STEPS Overview:

STEPS is the most advanced scientific program for improving grades! Over a decade ago, the editor of the Journal of Educational Psychology said the STEPS program was the best study skills program he had ever seen. But we didn't stop there. We've upgraded this program three times since then to make STEPS much better today than it was at that time. STEPS develops essential reading, note-taking, test-taking, time management, mnemonic and metacognitive strategies through activities designed to motivate students and to make learning more enjoyable. Students learn to identify their own learning styles as well as the teaching styles of their teachers. A major goal of this technique is to help each student study with style—his or her own learning style. Additionally, this focus on styles helps to empower students to develop effective learning habits in a variety of learning situations that will last a lifetime.

STEPS Features:
  • Built around an exciting game based simulation.
  • Before beginning, assessment tests are given to evaluate student learning needs (approx. 2 hours).
  • Our 10 hour course is taught over a four week period to facilitate habit forming techniques.
  • Learn to study with style, turning at least three strategies into habits.
  • Learn to read twice as fast with better comprehension.
  • Learn to use a memory based note-taking system with built in organization as an aid in taking tests.
  • Learn from top trainers, many of them university professors.
  • Learn metacognitive strategies and techniques that will last a lifetime.
  • Every student (and parent) receives an individualized style map identifying learning preferences and recommendations.
  • No homework given.
  • Free in-services are offered to parents and teachers to support students as they use these strategies.
