"Over the past few weeks I have applied these strategies to my class work and my schedule, and it helped tremendously.”
Tyler Weiser, Salina, Kansas

"As a Harvard educated English teacher with over forty five years of teaching experience, I learned a great deal more about my own learning styles and how to apply this information to my teaching. Dr. Howell is a truly engaging speaker who personalized his own learning experiences, both positive and negative. He is dynamic and keeps his audience focused on his information. Now I'm going forth to apply his principles in my classes. Thank you Dr. Howell. We at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy benefited from your expertise.”

Professional Development and In service Programs for Teachers

One Size Does Not Fit All: Differentiated Teaching Strategies

BASIC: This 45-minute professional development session offers strategies that can help teachers improve their teaching results with students of multiple learning styles. After identifying sensory modalities (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic), environmental factors (Rita Dunn's work at St. John’s University), brain-based hemispheres (left and right brain) and 4MAT styles (imaginative, analytical, pragmatic, dynamic) we will analyze how these diverse learners are impacted by the current teaching practices at your school. Teachers learn New strategies and pedagogical techniques will be discussed on how to address and really reach varied student styles and how to get these students to succeed.

ENHANCED: In this three hour professional development session, teachers are given the sensory modality, brain-hemispheres and 4MAT assessments before covering the materials listed above in the BASIC program. After teachers identify their own styles of learning, these materials are received with much greater impact.

Impact the entire school community with 3 separate programs in one day. During the school day, we give one or two of our "7 Habits" presentations to freshmen students. Immediately after school, we teach our 45-minute Differentiated Teaching Strategies program with teachers. Later that evening we spend 90 minutes with seniors (only) and their parents covering the 10 strategies that will guarantee them success in college. By taking advantage of this program, administrators can reach students, teachers and parents with high impact strategies that are sure to raise not only your test scores, but also your status as an effective leader in your community.
